Alex Krotz
Audio Engineer, Producer, Mixer and Editor
VP for The Art of Music Project
I have been working professionally in the audio industry for over a decade and a half, currently based near Toronto and doing freelance work for clients around the world. I’ve been a part of many different projects from new artists, to gold and platinum #1 hits with artists such as; Shawn Mendes, Drake, Barenaked Ladies, Billy Talent and Three Days Grace. I've had many unique opportunities to work with and learn from some of the best producers and engineers in the industry, including; Gavin Brown, Lenny De Rose, George Seara, Rich Chychi, Garth Richardson, Eric Ratz, Bob Ezrin, David Bendeth, Alan Parsons, Neil Sanderson & Howard Benson. I've spent years learning from invaluable mentors, and making lifelong connections while developing my own unique skills and techniques. Projects in my discography have received over 20 Juno nominations, achieved gold and platinum certifications, and won many awards.
After building my first studio at the age of 14, producing and recording my own full length record at 16, I graduated in 2011 at the top of my class from OIART, Canada's premier Audio Production school (Ontario Institute of Audio Recording Technology). Immediately after graduation, I started working at Noble Street Studios in Toronto, one of Canada's premier studios. For the next 7 years I worked there full time with industry-leading talent, before going freelance.
I’ve always had a desire to share with others the engineering and production techniques I have learned over the years from my mentors and other top professionals. I lecture regularly at schools like OIART and University of Western Ontario and have co-author credits on multiple university audio engineering textbooks.
By being available to answer questions personally, I strive to help people achieve their own success along their creative journeys. With ANAK Creates I hope to inspire and share professional music and audio production expertise with other creators who wouldn't otherwise have direct access to the professionals. My goal is to provide learning resources and a developmental ecosystem shaped around today's technology and professional landscape.
